Water and First Aid
As in many Asian and African countries, a lack of safe drinking water is the major challenge in Laos. Since 1997, the Austrian Red Cross has built 115 drinking water systems and 5.750 latrines in the rural area. Furthermore, Red Cross volunteers are trained to inform the people about personal hygiene and the causes of the most common diseases. In order to ensure the sustainability of these efforts, it is a part of the project to strengthen the Lao Red Cross Society.
