As the Skybird Programme gains more knowledge through the implementation of the Skybird micro projects, we want to share more of our newly gained wisdom with the wider community. Since we tackle not just WASH but also many other related topics through the Skybird Programme and its micro projects, we invite our implementers and external experts to share their experience and engage in discussions with fellow practitioners through a series of monthly online events.
The invitation extends to anyone who is interested in the respective topic, with WASH background as much as without a WASH background.
Recap of the 1st event of the series
The first event already took place on December 9, centred around the topic of CVA and market-based approaches in WASH. The event was facilitated by our colleague Alex Oeze and we heard inputs from Debora Bonucci (British RC) on the IFRC CASH and WASH Technical Working Group, from Abdoulaye Hamidou from the CALP Network on the importance of understanding markets and from Fredrick Orimba (Kenya RC) on the outcomes of the practical pre-crisismarket analysis training conducted under the KRCS Skybird micro project.
After the short inputs, the participants engaged in discussions with the experts in break-out room sessions which was greatly appreciated by participants and presenters alike.
In general, our events have a strong focus on the interactive part to allow for experience sharing and knowledge exchange between peers. This modality allows us to counteract the lack of actual networking opportunities at conferences and in-person events due to the pandemic. Through this and the “live” knowledge generation the Skybird WASH Network can define a niche within the online event universe and place itself as a go-to networking spot for WASH practitioners in the future.
Upcoming events and topics
Upcoming topics will include hydroponics/vertical farming, MHM, briquette production & marketing, rainwater harvesting techniques in different contexts and more as we head into the implementation of the 2nd cycle of micro projects.
Our next event will be in February 2022 – the exact date, time and topic will be announced shortly.
Stay up to date on any upcoming events through the Skybird WASH Network Newsletter, our social media channels and our event calendar on the Skybird website.
