WASH - Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Water is life-saving and one of the first urgent needs after any natural disaster When floods, earthquakes or epidemics strike, AutRC WASH staff and volunteers join IFRC-led missions around the world to provide critical support to communities in need. In addition to water treatment and distribution (Water Treatment Unit M15 for 15,000 people and M40 for 40,000 people), the prevention of epidemics through the provision of adequate sanitation, solid waste management and vector control (MSM20, Mass Sanitation Module for 20,000 people) is essential. Hygiene Promotion is a core element that must accompany all WASH activities.
The training of international WASH emergency delegates is carried out by the AutRC in cooperation with regional WASH branches of the AutRC. Additionally, the AutRC is in an active partnership with the German Red Cross (GerRC) and the Swedish Red Cross (SweRC). This includes joint WASH deployments and WASH trainings.
