
IMPACT
Aim
The IMPACT Training (International Mobilization and Preparation for ACTion) aims to provide participants with increased knowledge of humanitarian contexts, specific approaches and tools available within the Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement.
The course enables international staff to gain a solid understanding of the Fundamental Principles of the Movement, the mandates of different humanitarian actors, and the realities of working in conflict, disaster and development settings.
Objective
By the end of the IMPACT course, participants will have:
- A strengthened understanding and commitment to the RCRC principles, mandates and culture
- A clear overview of the challenges faced when working in situations of conflict, disaster and capacity development
- Improved knowledge and skills for effective cooperation within the Movement
- Enhanced understanding of surge mechanisms and capacity development
The course combines presentations, interactive discussions, group exercises, simulation scenarios and mandatory online learning to reflect the realities of international humanitarian operations.
Selection criteria
- Primary target group is RCRC long-term international staff
- International IC in-house staff travelling for business
- Staff who have been part of the Surge/ WASH and other potential pools by the AutRC for international deployments, including ERU and Surge roster members
- International staff of other international actors based in Vienna are welcome
Selection will be made in the above sequence.
COST & COMPENSATION
Accommodation, full board including conference package (coffee/snacks), training with experienced international trainers and a joint social evening for a lumpsum of EUR 1.100.
REGISTRATION
Please please send the registration form to impact@redcross.at by 8 December 2025. The form must be completed and signed by your line manager or the sending unit to confirm that:
- you have your line managers’ approval of participation, and
- the travel expenses and participation fee will be covered.
Further Information
- English B2 is required
- First Aid Training in the recent 5 years or until the training starts is a pre-condition
- Preparational material including pre-courses via IFRC Learning platform will be sent out prior to the course
- Participants are expected to stay at the hotel during the whole course period. Single rooms are booked by AutRC.
IMPACT is an intense full day course held in English. To receive the IMPACT certificate, all sessions and online learnings are mandatory!
This training is organized and facilitated jointly by the Austrian Red Cross (AutRC) – International Cooperation (IC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
