Excreta Disposal in Emergencies
Aim
Participants will be familiar with Excreta Disposal equipment and the appropriate use of these resources to improve health and restore dignity through the provision of adequate sanitation in a target community of 20,000 beneficiaries.
Objective
By the end of the training, participants will be able to
- plan and implement various excreta disposal interventions
- build the superstructure from scratch according to PGI standards
- stabilise the substructure of a pit latrine
- explain and apply the use of the SanPlat mould box
- explain different exit options for excreta disposal.
- provide appropriate Hygiene Promotion messages around ED
- carry out the necessary Hygiene Promotion, CEA and maintenance activities around the ED

- From rapid latrine to latrine block
- Inclusive latrine design
- Pit lining and enforcement
- SanPlat Mould box and concrete quality
- Decommissioning of pit latrines
Requirements
- Completed national WASH Basic Training
- Nomination by your branch or National RC Society
- IFRC ERU M40 or MSM20 international training recommended
- Completed the minimum trainings required for IFRC Rapid Response personnel
- English (at least B2 level)
