IFRC ERU M40 International Training
Aim
The IFRC ERU M40 training prepares future M40 delegates to treat, distribute and provide safe water to 40,000 people for 4 months according to ERU SOPs and SPHERE Standards, thereby contributing to health and public health objectives.
Objectiv
By the end of this training, participants have received the theoretical and technical basics to
- describe the M40 as part of an IFRC emergency operation
- conduct all ERU M40-specific emergency WASH programs as outlined in IFRC guidelines
- identify an appropriate water source for emergency water treatment
- conduct batch water treatment applying drinking water quality standards
- store, transport and distribute treated water in a safe manner
- apply small scale sanitation and excreta disposal activities
- apply the 8 steps of Hygiene Promotion programming in all M40 activities
- apply cross cutting topics around water treatment, storage & distribution
All elements of the course will be
- coordinated with IFRC to include lessons learned from past deployments,
- in cooperation with other ERU M40 holding National Societies,
- in accordance with Hygiene Promotion in Emergency guidelines and
- the guiding principles of the PGI, CEA and Green Response in Emergency Settings.
Special emphasis will be placed on the integration of WASH RRPs.
Main technical aspects
- Water treatment, testing, transport and storage
- Sanitation ladder and introduction to sanitation equipment as part of the M40
- Hygiene Promotion activities around water treatment, transport and storage and excreta disposal
Requirements
- Completed National WASH Basic Training
- Nomination by your branch or National RC Society
- Technical knowledge is an advantage
- Completed the minimum trainings required for IFRC Rapid Response personnel
- English (at least B2 level)
