Water Distribution in Emergencies
Aim
Participants will be familiar with ERU M40 equipment and the appropriate use of these resources to improve health and restore dignity through the provision of safe water in a target community of 40,000 beneficiaries.
Objective
By the end of the training, participants will be able to
- safely store, transport and distribute water
- understand pump characteristics and how to use them in different contexts
- design a small local gravity flow water network
- implement and lead HWTS campaigns
- implement HP and CEA programs around water distribution

- Site assessment parameters
- Pump characteristics and pump curves
- Water network characteristics and water distribution.
- Fundamentals of gravity flow.
- Water storage and transport
- Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage
- Hygiene Promotion messages from water treatment to the beneficiary
- Hygiene Promotion messages around water distribution and storage (including HWTS) in general
Requirements
- Completed national WASH Basic Training
- Nomination by your branch or National RC Society
- IFRC ERU M40 international training recommended
- Completed the minimum trainings required for IFRC Rapid Response personnel
- English (at least B2 level)
